Adding an Opt-In question to your applications in Lever

How will this effect candidates when they apply if they opt-out via the application?

If you're not leveraging some of Lever's automation rules and auto-tagging features, you may have a hard time keeping up with your candidates' responses. It will require a little more work to ensure the right people get your automations; once setup, any candidate who has not opted in will not get the automations and/or bulk messages.

Let's automate your opt-in process!

In Lever

  1. Examples of opt-in questions:

    • “Opt-in to receive text messages about jobs at _____? Please answer with Yes or No.”

    • “I would like to receive updates from a recruiter about this job via SMS. Please answer with Yes or No.”

    • “I would like to receive interview, timecard, or payment notifications and reminders via SMS. Please answer with Yes or No.”

  2. Creating and using tags with Automated tag application
Here's an example of Lever's Automation Workflow set up for our opt-in question:

"Opt in to be texted by a recruiter about this job."

*For any existing candidates in Lever that you may already be communicating with:

  • From the Candidates page, select any candidate(s) you're already chatting with > Add or Remove Tags > Choose what tags to add: (enter opted-in tag) > Add.

You can also add some verbiage to your Lever emails to the tune of

"If you change your mind and would like to receive updates on your application status or you would like the opportunity to chat with a recruiter directly, we can update your text notification settings at any time!"

In Grayscale

  1. With Lever setup and auto-tagging rules in place, let's use the 'opted-in' tag (you can decide what you want that tag to be) with all of your automations and bulk messages.

    • In the Candidates section, select 'Filter on tags' and add your Opt-In tag.

FAQs

If my candidate changed their mind and does want to receive texts from us, how will Grayscale know if we've updated their Lever tag?

The easiest way to ensure that the new tag is recognized in Grayscale is to pop the Chrome extension open on the candidate's Lever profile > click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner of their Grayscale message thread > and click Sync! Easy peasy.

What happens if my candidate replies STOP? Will I have to update their Lever tag?

We've got you covered! If your candidate replies STOP at anytime, they will be automatically unsubscribed and any message you attempt to send them will not be delivered.
